Ice Eggs

14th Oct 2021

Today we had Miss Mullan, a student at Stranmillis, visit our class today to carry out a science experiment. We read a story about Percy the Penguin who got stuck in the ice, and our job was to find out the fastest way to free him. Miss Mullan brought some ice eggs and we had talked about what it looked and felt like. We held it in our hands and noticed that our hands felt really cold and turned a red! We put salt on our eggs and heard a crackling noise and saw that our eggs turned rough. Finally we used hairdryers and found that heat was the fastest way to melt our eggs. P1/2 showed excellent observational skills and had lots of fun. Thank you Miss Mullan.
