Making Fossils

27th May 2022

As part of our dinosaur topic, we learned about Mary Anning. She was a young girl who lived a long time ago. She discovered dinosaur fossils near her home and went on to become a palaeontologist - a scientist who studies dinosaurs. We decided to make some fossils of our own. We used modelling clay to make an imprint of a dinosaur or a bone, and then filled it with plaster of paris. When it was dry, we used very fine brushes to paint our fossils because we wanted to make sure we could see all the details like the scales and the teeth!
