P4/5 - Weekly News (17/9/21)

17th Sep 2021

This week P4/5 have been learning about Roald Dahl and his life. We worked in groups to create a new confectionery item for Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. We also worked in small groups using the iPads to write fact files about Roald Dahl. Our class novel work focused on using dictionaries to find the meaning of different words that we have came across whilst reading ‘Mr Stink’.
During numeracy the P4s have been subtracting 2 and 3 digits and the P5s focused on 3 and 4 digit subtraction. We have all made excellent progress and moved to exchanging/burrowing across the tens and hundreds.
Our topic focus this week was on locating the 7 continents and spotting different rainforests using our new atlas books we received last week.

Some of the P5 children had their first music lesson with Mr McClean. He was very impressed with their behaviour and complimented each pupil on their listening skills which was lovely to hear. The second group of P5s will commence their music lesson in February.
