P4/5 - Weekly News (26/11/2021)

26th Nov 2021

We continued to focus on planning and writing persuasively this week. We spent some time planning then writing a persuasive letter to Mr Greenaway, asking him to consider having no homework for the rest of the school year. Lots of excellent suggestions were made, I was very impressed with some of the reasons including more time to use school paid apps, more time to spend with family and less marking for teachers! I have passed the letters to Mr Greenaway and we patiently await his response! We started to create an informational poster to help save the rainforest. Focusing on the importance of titles, images, use of text and colour to attract attention.

Our numeracy targets continued with money. We visited Miss Doyle's shop to buy a range of items, finding the total cost and calculating the change. The P5s helped Miss Doyle work out what items she had sold by using the total as her till had broke and she had lost all the receipts. The children had to use a price list to try and solve the problems.

Our classroom is starting to look a little more Christmassy with the help of all the children and their arts and crafts. We focused on things we are thankful for on the lead up to Christmas, writing our thoughts on stars to add to our Christmas display board as part of our PDMU lesson.
