P4/5 - Weekly News (4.2.22)

4th Feb 2022

Our literacy focus was on creating a plan to describe nouns this week using our senses. We will use this next week to write a little more in detail. We also revised our punctuation skills focusing on adding capital letters to the beginning of sentences and for proper nouns whilst remembering to include commas, full stops and question marks in a piece of writing.

During numeracy the P4s were ordering and comparing numbers to 1000 and P5s worked with numbers beyond 1000. We also started to look at perimeter and were able to calculate the perimeter of different shapes and extended our learning to use cubes to build a shape with a certain perimeter.

We ordered a set of events from the ancient Egyptian times on a time line and began writing our names in hieroglyphs.

We were introduced to a new app this week called Natterhub. Natterhub will help to educate us on the importance of being safe online.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were in visiting our P5 class on Wednesday afternoon. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session and learnt important lessons around fire safety and dangers that could arise in the home.

Congratulations to Will in P5 who has successfully completed our Mathseeds programme.

Well done everyone, have a lovely weekend.
