P4/5 - Weekly News (8/10/21)

8th Oct 2021

P4/5 have been writing a plan in preparation to write a diary entry next week. They focused on using their senses, feelings and imagination to imagine how they landed in the rainforest. In small groups we looked at different pictures to think of as many adjectives as possible to describe each picture. We will focus on incorporating Pie Corbett’s 2A sentences into our future writing.

Our novel work focused on listening to a voice clip from Mr Stink, the children had to visualise what was happening then illustrate the scene. A helpful activity to develop listening skills as well as our imagination.

We have continued to focus on times tables as part of our fraction work this week. Lots of practical work alongside written activities to develop our skills. I have been very impressed with everyone, P5s were able to recall facts about fractions including numerator and denominator.

Over the past 2 weeks we have been looking at art from Henri Rousseau. We planned our artwork by drawing then colouring and finally progressed to using a range of materials including crept paper, tissue paper, pipe cleaners and feathers.

Please encourage your child to access Reading Eggs and Mathseeds throughout the week.

Have a lovely weekend.
