P4/5 ~ News (6.3.26)

6th Mar 2026

This week in P4/5 we have been learning about synonyms and how they can improve our writing. As part of our World Book Day activities we read a book written by Rachel Bright ‘The Camel who had the hump’.  This linked to PDMU as  it gave us an opportunity to chat about how our emotions can impact our mood. Some of the P5 children were able to recall learning from our topic last year about mindset and how we can have a fixed mindset but by being adaptable we can develop a growth positive mindset. I was very impressed with this recall of learning.

Our numeracy lessons have focused on pictograms, tally and frequency tables as well as collecting data from our own class to determine which pancake topping was our favourite. We collected data from the P3 children as well as our own class to determine which ice-cream flavour was the most common and represented this on a bar chart.

We were able to get outside for some outdoor learning and play this week. We started to make bird feeders using recycled cardboard juice cartons.

During our art lesson we started work on our Ancient Egypt junk models. The children worked in small groups and are showing excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Great work from everyone this week, well done!
