P4/5 ~ Weekly News (2.5.2025)
Our literacy focused on writing a storyboard of our Easter holidays. The children enjoyed drawing the different things they got up to then they were challenged to write about it in a paragraph. This encouraged the children to focus on the information they were writing and the quality of their writing to make decisions about what was relevant to their storyboard. We have continued working on our comprehension skills. The children read a piece of text then choose the correct answer from a multiple choice. These comprehension tasks enable the children to recap all areas of grammar and punctuation which they have learnt throughout the year.
Our numeracy work has focused on a mixture of skills this week including money, inverse operation and 2D shape revision.
Term 3 topic will be ‘Healthy and Active’. We had an excellent class discussion when introducing the topic. The children recalled lots of things that they already know about this topic as well as discussing areas that we would like to know more about. There were some fantastic suggestions about how long we should exercise for each day, how many beats does our heart beat per a minute and what food is considered the healthiest.
Our PDMU sessions throughout May and June will focus on ‘Friendships’ and the importance of having healthy friendships and developing skills to solve problems that may arise among friendship groups.
A very good start to term 3, well done P4/5!
Have a lovely weekend!
