P4/5 - Weekly News (5/11/21)
A fantastic week back for P4/5. We wrote a recount of our half-term break as well as focusing on adding speech marks to our writing and learning about Guy Fawkes as part of our comprehension activity during literacy.
Our numeracy work this week has been very challenging, again we are seeing the importance of knowing our times tables and the many ways in which they apply to our work. The P4s were multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by a single digit whilst P5 were multiplying a 3 and 4 digit number by a single digit. The P5s progressed to multiplying a 2-digit by a 2-digit, a very tricky concept with many steps to remember. We learnt a short rhyme to help us remember the steps: Many Zoos Many Animals. Maybe the boys and girls can tell you what each part of the rhyme means to help with completing long multiplication. Lots of resilence shown this week by P4 and P5, well done everyone for not giving up when faced with a challenge.
We reviewed our Term 1A targets and set a new individual target for Term 1B as part of our PDMU lesson.
Our art work has been based on Northern Ireland as part of an art competition. The children were very excited about this, they researched at home and found lots of iconic places that Northern Ireland is best known for. They then drew and coloured their chosen place.
A very busy and enjoyable week.
Reminder: Wear your PE kit on Monday and Thursday next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Doyle.
