Whittling

10th Jan 2020

When we went to visit the toy museum, we saw what one of the earliest wooden dolls looked like. They were carved out of wood with holes for the eyes and nose. As part of our Forest School programme we had a go at making our own wooden toys. We got some sticks and used whittling tools to scrape off all the bark until we could see the white layer underneath. We had to learn how to use the whittling tools safely by wearing a glove and scraping away from our bodies. It took a lot of concentration and perseverance but everyone in P1/2 did a great job and we developed lots of new skills.
